1.Discuss the different changes at Intel over the first 3 years of CEO Barrett's tenure. There were several changes that occurred at Intel during the 3 years of Barrett's tenure. Some of the changes included Barrett expanding the products and services to include offering internet related services in addition to chips for PCs. Barrett invested money into various business markets in an effort to expand his vision and compete with others. He also reorganized the company to help open channels of communication, develop a unique brand, and prevent duplication of products. 2.Identify three significant environmental pressures for change faced by Intel under CEO Barrett's leadership. (fashion, mandates, geopolitical, declining markets, hyper-competition and corporate reputation).

The environmental pressures for change faced by Intel under Barrett's leadership were declining markets, corporate reputation, and hyper-competition. The declining markets were a direct result of the September 11, 2001 attack and threats of war in Iraq that affected many IT companies to think innovatively to remain competitive. Barrett decided to compete with other markets by expanding Intel's product line to offer internet related services, producing information and communication appliances. (Palmer, Dunford & Akin, 2009). The corporate reputation of Intel was positive and viewed as a successful global technology company under the direction of Andrew S. Grove, but things changed over a period of time. Unfortunately, during Barrett's tenure, Intel's reputation was viewed differently.
