Entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe

Entrepreneurship are innovators who take it upon themselves to fill in any gap or opportunity that they see or feel that it is not being satisfied by other leading firms in the market. Ronstadt, (2002), as cited by Holt,(2005) defined entrepreneurship as the dynamic process of creating incremental wealth. The wealth created by individuals who assume major risks in terms of equity, time and or career commitment or providing value for the same product or service. For some entrepreneurship is an in-born quality/ trait and are naturally innovative and creative and for others they have acquired skills and knowledge to become entrepreneurs and the both of these qualities giving them more competitive edge. In this part of the script a discussion is therefore in play so as to analyze whether entrepreneurship is a born or acquired taste. Looking at the born taste, most entrepreneurs are well aware of the opportunities, they can be said to be opportunity obsessed. They are well aware of the market and the customer needs and hence embark on those needs. Pure determination and strong commitment aid in most entrepreneurs within their business ventures and these are said to be a persona trait, (Campbell and Craig, 2008). Looking for example, people like Strive Masiyiwa, Mahomed Mussa and Tendai Nyambirai, all these afore mentioned are popular self -starters who through their determination and opportunity obsession have become some of the leading entrepreneurs in the Zimbabwean economy. Their need for high achievement and motive to excel leads them to expand continually serving the market profitably. Furthermore, entrepreneurs also can inherit this born taste from genealogy. Psychology has it that intelligence is inherited and constitutes of 75% of a person and 25% being that of nurture influence, Davey, (2010).
