Mission Statement

This portfolio is a comprehensive assessment of the skills that I have been developing during this course and beyond. It is not only a showcase of my strengths and abilities, but also an indication of how I would like to present myself to future employers.

This portfolio is also a record of my experiences in college and in work, a record that I can continue to add to and develop over the next few years. It is a continuous assessment of my professional capabilities and knowledge. As such, it will help me in making career decisions. It is also a formal and informal record of my triumphs and failures.

This portfolio will also help me whenever I ask myself the recurring questions: What are my genetic strengths?
What do I love doing?
What is going to satisfy me in work and life?
I will talk about what I discovered, what aspects of the communications process were drawn to our attention, and what lessons learned. All About Me

I am a person who is positive about every aspect of life. There are many things I like to do, to see, and to experience. I like to read, I like to write; I like to think, I like to dream; I like to talk, I like to listen. I like to see the sunrise in the morning, I like to see the moonlight at night, I like to smell the wind coming from the ocean. I like flowers in spring, rain in summer, leaves in autumn, and snow in winter. I like to sleep early, I like to get up late; I like to be alone, I like to be surrounded by people. I like country’s peace, I like metropolis noise, I like good books and romantic movies, I like people. And, I like to laugh.

I always wanted to be a great fashion designer, like Giorgio Armani or like Marc Jacobs. They have influenced millions of womens through their style. I also wanted to be a great psychologist, like Sigmund Freud, who could read people’s mind. Of course, I am nowhere close to these people, yet. I am just someone who does some learning, some research, and some projects. But my dream is still alive.

I have been studying marketing and event management for the past year. Previously I had worked a variety of jobs, in Poland and in Ireland, without managing to capitalise on or organise my skills to the degree to which I wanted. I've learned a whole lot about myself, the people around me, and business, of course.

I know that I want to work in the fashion business in an visual capacity, and I am gradually accumulating the skills, contacts and knowledge that this will require. Communications and personal development are an important part of this, especially in the fashion industry where effective social interaction is a vital element of the business.

In the following sections I will give an outline of the evolution of my communications and interpersonal skills during the course.

Areas of Success


Before taking this course I understood learning as the simple accumulation of information. There are many more elements to the process, however, including feedback, positive reinforcement and attitude which contribute to the learning experience. When I began studying for my Christmas exams I was solely concerned with a study timetable that would allow me time to work and rest as well. However, I realised after chatting with other students that I could improve my learning by studying in groups(for better motivation) and by consulting my teachers when I was confused (feedback). I also learned that repetition, or reinforcement, of these healthy learning patterns entrenched them in my behaviour. All of these elements have increased my capacity for learning over the past year, not least the ability to ask for help if I’m in trouble!


Healthy communication, as mentioned above, is essential for a healthy business. This means that all channels of communication, informal and formal, should be functioning, as the more information being exchanged the more knowledgeable the organisation is....
